I saw a used copy of this in a bookstore just before leaving on vacation and figured I'd give it a try.  I loved his Sandman series of graphic novels and hoped that he might write a good traditional novel

He did and then some.


The book develops a bit slowly, but once the first characters are set up it starts to move, shake, shatter.  The characters are developed as they appear in the story, and different parts of the characters are exposed as you need to know them.


I don't think you'll guess the ending.  This one is worth the read.
