Ted Fox Inuit Sled Dog Fund

by Geneviève Montcombroux

You have heard me refer to  the ISDI Foundation Dogs a few times. Perhaps I ought to add a few words of explanation.

The late Ted Fox left a legacy which has been invested to aid the Inuit Sled Dog International in its efforts to preserve the ISD and ensure the expansion of the gene pool. The following activities support this goal:

* maintaining a registry of all known pure ISDs.
* obtaining pups from different lines; these dogs become ISDI Foundation dogs
* placing best pups from ISDI Foundation breedings with mushers-breeders, with the understanding that in time the dogs will propagate their genetic qualities. This decentralization helps keep down the costs of running a central breeding establishment.
* running a DNA profile of the breed.
* conducting a scientific survey of the Inuit Sled Dog with the gathering of data of health, behavior, effects of different environments and nutrition on the breed.

The Ted Fox ISD Fund accepts contributions. Make checks or money orders out to: The ISDI Fund and send them to: The Inuit Sled Dog International, P.O. Box 206, Inwood, Manitoba R0C 1P0. Thank you for your support.
