This is a journal of the band Breaking Tides. This journal isn't like any news section or any of that crap, this stuff is personal written accounts of what we have done, what we are working on, and what we are going to do. It is also an account of our lives, written by diferent members of the band from their perspectives. We don't just talk about band stuff either, we talk about it all! HORRAY!

Hey all, Id like to thank everyone who came to
our show, you guys were great, especially during the clap during rainforest
café song. I think our performance could have been better, it was a little
sketchy, but it was our first show the whole summer so I think we will be better
for the scene show. A few mess ups here and there but it was fun. I think maybe
we got more concerned about stage appearance than our music, which we will work
on. But I look back and I think everyone had fun and I hope everyone enjoyed it,
you guys are amazing for coming and supporting us. We have a lot of work to do
and every show is a lesson for us. We will see you all September 3rd
at the scene, thank you again for

updated, so I guess I'll step up to the plate. We are putting the finishing
touches on our debut album due out September 3rd at our Club Scene show. I
listened to the cd, which hasn't been completely mastered, and I was amazed at
how far we have come along. I'm very proud of the band and our work and hope
that this cd will not go un-noticed. We have a few more shows coming up

Yo, it’s the Asian invasion here. It
turns out that Breaking Tides will be publicly inactive until around August due
to certain circumstances. It kind of sucks for all of us, but there are some
good sides to it, too. We get to work on funds (which we are very low on) and
merchandise and all that fun stuff, and possibly, come up with a few more
amazing creations. Also, it gives us an opportunity to step away from our hours
of grueling work to look at ourselves from an outside perspective. Anyways,
here’s something I found very enlightening that my very good friend Andres
wrote:

“Music is like the
Matrix. It is everywhere; when you drive to school, when you turn on
the TV, when you sing Happy Birthday to a friend, or when you ring your
neighbor’s doorbell. No matter where you go, you can’t
escape it. No one is aware of its existence, but it is
there. When you start learning about music, your eyes open wide and
you become blinded by the light. Some choose to close their eyes with
the perception that the light is too much to handle, ignorant from what is upon
them. Those who choose to keep them open get used to it and they are
the ones that turn out to be more aware of its presence and the complexities
that surround it. They become curious and want to learn more about
the concepts behind it. All musicians will encounter those rules and
they are the foundation of the system known as music. Even though
there are rules, some can be bent and others can be broken. Once you master the
basic laws that music abides by, you can see it for what it is and you can only
go further down the rabbit hole while others stay upon the surface oblivious to
what is really down there. As you learn more and more, you can
manipulate music to what you want it to be. Soon you reach a state of
nirvana and the rules no longer matter; it is a part of what you are in a
subconscious level. Once you get that far, there is no turning back; you can
only go forward to control the system however you please. What you
can accomplish with the power of your hands depends on your drive to dig deeper
into the rabbit hole and there is no telling what the human will can
accomplish.”

-Andres

Yo Jepplar speaking, I haven’t posted in
awhile so I thought id give an update. Today’s practice started good,
ended on a bad note though. We played rainforest café (amazing song your
all gonna bleed from your ears when you hear it) but AJ wasn’t there to do
his part so it sounded unfinished. We also pretty much finished rain song which
is really hott, still we need AJ. We set up Christmas lights and all kinds of
lights in petie’s garage and jammed for awhile. The we tried to write our
new song but we all were too tired for the 15 chord chorus that luis wrote but
w/e, I know it sounds good in his head so it will sound good when we do it. Im
out.

NEWS FLASH: petie has been expelled from
breaking tides. we have NO new music. we arent even a band anymore. i dont play

either of those bands. they are quite like everyone else. enjoy. we shoudl have
a few more songs. they will be good. guaranteed. excpet for the vocals. bass
will be totally kick ass, like always. expect "rainforest cafe song" because it
is really good. also expect, the rain song, which is like the opposite of the
rainforest cafe song, possibly lindsays song which requires strange tuning.
actually, it doesnt really matter. my greatest piece of work is up on the site
anyway. so in fact, dont even go to the show. just sit at home and listen to
that song. me and AJ have a few amazing new songs coming out. i use 2nds. it
sounds beautiful. well, since i write for the band, and no one knows what
seconds are, im gonna stop. i just write guitar. so yea, i have a bunch of new
songs in work. they are all getting better progessively. so yea, ive been
writing a bunch new songs. very good they are. i like them a much. poo poo pee

Dear Journal. This is probably my first entry
ever in the Breaking Tides Journal. Well yeah, it is. So here. I'm going to hit
you up with important updates in my life that coincide with the events that
parallel that of my career with the band and they go as
follows:

In
the past month, I've kind of been broken in as the keyboards of the band. We've
had several straight weeks of practice with everyone there and things have been
sounding pretty incredible. Seriously, I was amazed with the members of the band
before I joined, but now that I'm part of the experience, I have a much, much,
much X infinite higher respect for what they do. They are seriously way above
par as both musicians and as
people.

Anyways,
I've been hearing nothing but good things about my acceptance into the band and
I must admit it's very flattering. I hope I can meet up to everyone's
expectations. Actually, I want to surprise everyone and surpass their
expectations.

Okay,
so we have more than a handfull of songs now, and they are freakin'
impressive/awesome as hell. So guys, be patient and you will be endowed with all
that musical goodness.
Get down to the
nitty titty, I mean the nitty gritty, I mean her titty's pretty.

anything in awhile so I thought I would inform our imaginary fan base with some
current news. We have currently reached 10 songs!!!! Only about 6 of them are
finished but the other 4 are on their way. A lot of people told us we needed
some more upbeat stuff so that’s what you’re going to get. Our newer
songs are pretty upbeat, especially the wammi song, your gonna love luis and his
wammi pedal after you hear it. I really feel the band is coming along great, we
have been having a lot of slow time and some arguments, but were getting past
that now. Hopefully we can get these songs recorded and get a CD out for

onstage with AJ, i feel so much more confident and better about myself. so my
performance level with AJ in the band will be much higher now. thanks AJ, im
honored to be part of your life. that sounded pretty gay.

As you have read from the rest of the band...
the show sucked at ovation. I am not going to go into details but... I would
just like to give a nice big "F-YOU" to exposure and their money hungry
asses.

"Oh, we are this great group
that gets bands together for a cool little show". Those are the words they sell.
It should really sound something more
like:

"Hello, we are a group of money
hungry assholes who would like to take thousands of dollars from your band and
your friends so you can play in a giant tin can of a venue that is an hour away
and sounds terrible for about 10 minutes. We would also like to inform you that
this is all just so that we can gain tens of thousands of dollars from you sorry
bitches. One more thing, we don't pick winners, we pick the band that is best
friends with the announcer and who can scream the
loudest."

Surely if they advertised
themselves like that we would have replied to our invitation to the battle with
a big "PISS OFF"

Anyway, we are not
being sore losers because we lost or anything, because we all went in there
knowing that they were going to pick the band that could scream the loudest and
longest. We are just informing everyone that the little company known as
"exposure" is just a fake, they are a group of organized thieves. The moral of
the story is... if you have a band and get invited to play a show for exposure,
just please don't do it (unless your band has no idea what music is and strums
power-chords up the ass while screaming, in that case sign up immediately
because your band will win their mediocre prize).

Ok so you got the inside scoop on the ovation
show... to the rest of the band and our loyal fans who came all that way to
watch us (i love you all dearly, it is you guys that keep me alive), we did
awesome. to me, we sucked. why? heres the scoop of what really happened, first
hand, first person, from the man who basically got fudgeed over, like always.
and of course, and i am probably the most critical of the band, when it comes to
our performances. anyway, we didnt even get a soundcheck in the morning when we
went there. we drove an hour and half to hand in our fudgeing money. fudgeing
pigs.

They soundchecked one band,
the first band. so us and A Farewell Approach toyed with the equipment a bit. i
still didnt really know how to use it, whatever. we went home, slept in the car,
i realized how not good Killswitch Engage was, but i still like them. we
practiced at petie's after lunch, then i slept. . . we are about to get on
stage, and i had just finished tuning our guitars and A Farewell Approach's
equipment as well. i didnt really tune the ibanez though; of course, when it was
important, the ibanez went ouf of tune constantly, of course it had to be me. im
so lucky. anyway, AFA finishes, we get on. i was told by matt from AFA to use
the stack on the far right because the one he used is done and broken. so i took
his advice, the nice person i am. problem was, the keyboard was on the side
nearer to the stack that was apparently "broken."

So i plugged into my amp, using a
fudgeing wireless system. lemme tell EVERYONE something, wireless systems suck.
well, most, i havent tried that many. one in fact. and MARSHALL CAN SUCK MY FAT
WANG. ive said it from the begining, marshall sucks. ive never used such a
bad system. first of all, the jackson's (the guitar i was using) pickups are
weak, then, a crappy wireless system plugged into a dying marshall stack. the
result: no sound, due to a broken signal or no signal at all (once again thanks
to wireless system run into a dying stack from a sucky pickup system). or, a
really really really really pussy sounding distortion. i played the absolute
worst i have every played in my life that night, and it was bad.

I was so mad, i could not take it. i
was yelling at everyone: the band, the techies, the poor girl who introduced us,
everything. so basically, i said, fudge it. i refuse to even make an effort. i
get fudgeed over so much. thanks matt from AFA. i used the shit amp you whore.
happy? i sucked, and now im pissed off again thinking about what happened.
whatever... everyone loved us, strangely. it was by far, my worst show ever.
you, the reader, probably wonder, but everyone else said the show was great.
yea, to them. to me, i try to forget it. sure, petie sang beautifullly, and
james was rockin', and jeff did his thang, and robert added them beats to that
honey. but tonight, the usual winner came out in the bottom. anger overcame me,
and i was i dick to everyone on stage. sorry. but mostly what pissed me off, was
the fact that they decided to do taken away, even though they knew my distortion
wasnt in existence and i would sound awful. that still fudgeing pisses the hell
out of me so much...

I cant talk
about this anymore. all this waste, all this time, all this hype, all this hope,
all this looking forward to. what a big waste... we didnt even win. we shouldve
won too. we clearly won, it was obvious we are the best band in the land. this
just shows the corruption and lack of true talen in the music business nowadays.
the bands that won were two screamo/anger management bands. they both sucked my
three testicles. its ridiculous how bad music has gone. heres what my good buddy
zakk wylde says (something along these lines):

"its so insulting to us hardworking
musicians to see people like ashlee simpson (or in our case, the winning bands
at ovation) get all this fame and shit. she cant even lip-sync to her own
fudgeing song. One day, i think im gonna play my CD onstage, shove a hockey
stick up my ass, and walk around stage like a douche bad, and people will say
'wow zakk is amazing, hes not even touching his guitar and hes still playing the
solo.'" screw you
"exposure."

More reviews on ovation.... i really didnt
think the show went to bad. there were problems of course. i think even tho we
discussed it a million times we still took to long to set up. D-song was a bit
screwed up but it wasnt to bad. we just need to get it all finished. Luis had
some problems with his half stack and that sucked. i think we should have taken
more time to learn the amps in the morning and played around with them. but i
guess noone really took time to do it. some say it was the tech guys fault but i
dont blame him at all cuz hows he supposed to know exactly what people want, he
shouldnt have to do everything. I

I
think us personally did fine, the band didnt screw up. just a bit of tech
problems. and of course we had moving problems. ive noticed jeff doesnt move as
much at big shows as he does at practice, and luis doesnt move when hes pissed,
but who can blame him. we gotta work on the show stuff like that.

I never wanna play another show
without our own equipment or like a one hour sound check. if were gonna use amps
we've never used they should at least give us time to learn them or use our own
stuff. but also they were tube amps that had been on all day so of course they
wouldnt be at their best. kepplar jig went good. people really liked it, im
really happy bout that. people could also hear my bass really well at those
shows and ive been getting lots of reallly good feed back about my skill. which
makes me extremely happy cuz i hate being the bass in the backround and noone
knows what im doing. now i guess im getting more of the respect i deserve lol. i
think we totally should have won, as far as i heard.

I think petie was the only singer
that could actually sing. most people were just screaming like idiots. we were
extremely diffrent too which made me happy. even my mom noticed that, the band
that went on 2 spots before us and the one right after us sounded exactly the
same. w/e we were gipped. at least it gave us a chance to show people some of
our knew stuff. some people have been to most of our concerts and heard like the
same 3 songs.

This time we got to
play new stuff people hadnt heard. we dont have shows coming up for a
while i guess so now we can take time for good practices and recording.
it'll be good. well w/e give us some feed back on what you thought of last night
peoples. peace.

Well Ovation is over and done with. I and not
to happy with the outcome of it either. We worked really hard and we really
excited for the show for it to come out as it did. The one thing I hate doing is
not using our own equipment. We had to use marshal half stacks that we
didn’t know how to use. Well I get the good one but Luis gets the one
where the distortion wouldn’t work. I was pissed because Luis is amazing
at guitar and people couldn’t hear him, and we had to waste time trying to
fix the amp which cut out our playing
time.

Ovation is full of douche bags.
I also felt bad because so many people came to watch us and we performed so
awful cuz we were so mad. We still got a great crowd response and had people
skanking during taken away which surprised me. We only played 4 songs. Anyways,
the D song was new but I think we rushed into playing it, we need to perfect it
like taken away, complete, and drowning, but that takes time. I really think we
could have won that because were so much different then every other band. All
the bands sounded the same and that’s the problem with music nowadays but
it’s also what gets bands signed. I think the band is really coming
together now.

We were having a lot
of problems before but I think now after that show and listening to other bands
we realized that if we make it, we could actually be a band that revolutionizes
music. At the show I was pissed off, but I started feeling better when a lot of
people told me they liked the song I wrote “The Kepplar Jig”. The
song is so fun to play and I think it has a really good beat which people like.
The rap part was the best and I think it showed that we don’t really have
a sound, that we just can combine everything and do what works for us and people
like that. Anywayz, I’m out for now. Thanks to everyone who came to the
show and supported us b4 and after it, you guys are amazing. I wish the
performance could have been better but things happen. Marshal sucks, Line 6 owns
you!!!!!!!

This weekend was great. It started with Friday
night when we played another open mic night at McCarthy. That went even better
than the first one thanks to luis' brand amp, and his brand new chord for
"drowning" (jk). After this we all went out to the oasis and spotted an amazing
grand piano. Luis decided that he MUST play it, so we actually performed a
"taken away" piano version right there in the mall. Kris (the best band/video
man on the planet) caught some video of that happening, I will post that online
once I get the tapes.

Saturday was
TASTE OF CHAOS, well at least for James and I. It was great fun. Pau decided she
wanted to go crowd surfing. I love when people like to try new things, even if
it puts me through hell trying to help them out. Sunday was pretty fun, JAMES'
BIRTHDAY! Next time you see him make sure you give him a nice CASH present so
that he can buy a new bass please!
PLEASE!

We were planning on playing
at his little birthday get together, but bobby had to go to a concert... geesh.
Anyway, Curly's party was fun... even though I got a little annoyed at the end
from an undisclosed reason. Whatever, I am not even mad anymore.... I am over
it. I have realized that some people are different and they are on a different
page than you are when it comes to some things, but if you care for them enough
you will adjust and you will turn the page to read the same lines that they are
reading.

Werd up to all, its Mr. Kepplar speaking. This
weekend was great as Petie said. Friday’s mic night went awesome. We did
it up with 5 songs and taken away sounded amazing. Even though luis hit one of
the ugliest chords I have ever heard during drowning lol, he is still the
captain. Our dedicated fan didn’t go to the show which was disappointing,
you know who you are! The captain and I heard the best song ever this weekend,
it’s called numa numa, it’s in like dutch, its like some dance
techno song. Says words like hyduke and sespoon which we haven’t found the
meaning to as of yet. So we downloaded it at petie’s house and jammed to
it non stop.

I had to sleep at
Captains house Friday and Saturday cuz mi parentals were gone and they
don’t trust me to lock up the house or w/e. Sunday was Jame’s party,
was pretty cool. Saw is kind of boring when its 2nd time seeing it. But it was
fun anyways. After that luis was jamming on mi guitara, he is exactly like steve
vai, except for he is luis cordova. We have 2 new song ideas that we are working
on, we just have to finish them hopefully b4 ovation. We need to balance out our
songs b/c we have to many slow songs, they might be sexy as hell but they
don’t get the crowd moving. Hopefully these will.

I had some trouble with the D song
b/c the timing is unknown to all human kind, but I figured out just to listen to
the bass and u will feel it. Drums need alittle work though b/c this song is
really hard to make a drum beat to. Anywayz, there is alittle update for the
fans if we have any, peace.
