TVO BBQ

Hey all, Id like to thank everyone who came to our show, you guys were great, especially during the clap during rainforest café song. I think our performance could have been better, it was a little sketchy, but it was our first show the whole summer so I think we will be better for the scene show. A few mess ups here and there but it was fun. I think maybe we got more concerned about stage appearance than our music, which we will work on. But I look back and I think everyone had fun and I hope everyone enjoyed it, you guys are amazing for coming and supporting us. We have a lot of work to do and every show is a lesson for us. We will see you all September 3rd at the scene, thank you again for coming.

P.S. if you guys have any pics, please send them to us ASAP so we can put them up on our site so everyone can check them out.

BobbaY Is BaCK

It's been awhile since this journal's been updated, so I guess I'll step up to the plate. We are putting the finishing touches on our debut album due out September 3rd at our Club Scene show. I listened to the cd, which hasn't been completely mastered, and I was amazed at how far we have come along. I'm very proud of the band and our work and hope that this cd will not go un-noticed. We have a few more shows coming up that you don't want to miss, so just check the shows tab for more info. Thanks for the support

AZN ATTACK

Yo, it’s the Asian invasion here. It turns out that Breaking Tides will be publicly inactive until around August due to certain circumstances. It kind of sucks for all of us, but there are some good sides to it, too. We get to work on funds (which we are very low on) and merchandise and all that fun stuff, and possibly, come up with a few more amazing creations. Also, it gives us an opportunity to step away from our hours of grueling work to look at ourselves from an outside perspective. Anyways, here’s something I found very enlightening that my very good friend Andres wrote:

“Music is like the Matrix.  It is everywhere; when you drive to school, when you turn on the TV, when you sing Happy Birthday to a friend, or when you ring your neighbor’s doorbell.  No matter where you go, you can’t escape it.  No one is aware of its existence, but it is there.  When you start learning about music, your eyes open wide and you become blinded by the light.  Some choose to close their eyes with the perception that the light is too much to handle, ignorant from what is upon them.  Those who choose to keep them open get used to it and they are the ones that turn out to be more aware of its presence and the complexities that surround it.   They become curious and want to learn more about the concepts behind it.  All musicians will encounter those rules and they are the foundation of the system known as music.  Even though there are rules, some can be bent and others can be broken. Once you master the basic laws that music abides by, you can see it for what it is and you can only go further down the rabbit hole while others stay upon the surface oblivious to what is really down there.  As you learn more and more, you can manipulate music to what you want it to be.  Soon you reach a state of nirvana and the rules no longer matter; it is a part of what you are in a subconscious level. Once you get that far, there is no turning back; you can only go forward to control the system however you please.  What you can accomplish with the power of your hands depends on your drive to dig deeper into the rabbit hole and there is no telling what the human will can accomplish.”

Ups and Downs of Practice

Yo Jepplar speaking, I haven’t posted in awhile so I thought id give an update. Today’s practice started good, ended on a bad note though. We played rainforest café (amazing song your all gonna bleed from your ears when you hear it) but AJ wasn’t there to do his part so it sounded unfinished. We also pretty much finished rain song which is really hott, still we need AJ. We set up Christmas lights and all kinds of lights in petie’s garage and jammed for awhile. The we tried to write our new song but we all were too tired for the 15 chord chorus that luis wrote but w/e, I know it sounds good in his head so it will sound good when we do it. Im out.

News Flash

NEWS FLASH: petie has been expelled from breaking tides. we have NO new music. we arent even a band anymore. i dont play guitar either. whats a guitar? in fact, whale sperm. actually, i dont know. i was gonna say something important. ill just wait ten minutes.

ok, we have a lot of new music. show the 28th at uncle sams. we are playing with madelyn and last years heroes. so if you dont like us, chances are you like either of those bands. they are quite like everyone else. enjoy. we shoudl have a few more songs. they will be good. guaranteed. excpet for the vocals. bass will be totally kick ass, like always. expect "rainforest cafe song" because it is really good. also expect, the rain song, which is like the opposite of the rainforest cafe song, possibly lindsays song which requires strange tuning. actually, it doesnt really matter. my greatest piece of work is up on the site anyway. so in fact, dont even go to the show. just sit at home and listen to that song. me and AJ have a few amazing new songs coming out. i use 2nds. it sounds beautiful. well, since i write for the band, and no one knows what seconds are, im gonna stop. i just write guitar. so yea, i have a bunch of new songs in work. they are all getting better progessively. so yea, ive been writing a bunch new songs. very good they are. i like them a much. poo poo pee pee caka. star wars may 19th. go see it. i love star wars. cKy june 28th. go get it. best CD ever. i heard one song, its amazing. cool solo. like sprinkles on ice cream cake. everyone likes ice cream. actually, everyone LOVES it. faggot. so yea, dont listen to peties new dance song. its caka to the ears. it really is. the main idea of this: go to our show on the 28th. buy the cKy CD. eat ice cream cake. we are getting better. bananas are yellow. i hate school.

Taken Away

pump pump pump pump pump pump PUMP!

the biggest mistake
was wrYting this sOung
trying to sing with the shitty guitars?
but who cares
because i have hayres
i dont know what to do with them
because im so gaye
im gay-ay
gay gay gay gay
pachkszum

they drag us down
make us state our last names
the soup that they TOOK
i wonder how?
assume for the better
SURROUNDED BY FIRE!

what what what what
what what what WHAT!
assume for the better
surrounded by fire
lightning strikes me in the
HEAD
P#@IS!
hahahaha

they drag me down, THEY DRAG ME
make me state my last name,
CORDOVA, CORDOVA!
the biggest mistake
was surrounding by fire, -errr, -ERRR!

F**K THE SOLO!

F**K THIS SOLO IS GOOD!
deneneendnendendnednendendnendendnendnednendnendnednendnendededede

they drag me down
make me pull my pants
insert it in my butt
the biggest mistake

they drag me down
make me pull out my weiner
and put it on their desk
the biggest breast
on the entire planet,
is the size of my HEAD!

holy shit that was good

as you know, these are the real lyrics for Taken away. dont let petie trick you. this song was never previously written, thought of, or done. it was one take, improvised by luis cordova.

The AZN Attack

Dear Journal. This is probably my first entry ever in the Breaking Tides Journal. Well yeah, it is. So here. I'm going to hit you up with important updates in my life that coincide with the events that parallel that of my career with the band and they go as follows:

In the past month, I've kind of been broken in as the keyboards of the band. We've had several straight weeks of practice with everyone there and things have been sounding pretty incredible. Seriously, I was amazed with the members of the band before I joined, but now that I'm part of the experience, I have a much, much, much X infinite higher respect for what they do. They are seriously way above par as both musicians and as people.

Anyways, I've been hearing nothing but good things about my acceptance into the band and I must admit it's very flattering. I hope I can meet up to everyone's expectations. Actually, I want to surprise everyone and surpass their expectations.

Okay, so we have more than a handfull of songs now, and they are freakin' impressive/awesome as hell. So guys, be patient and you will be endowed with all that musical goodness.
Get down to the nitty titty, I mean the nitty gritty, I mean her titty's pretty. Peace.

New Recording

Yo its Jepplar speaking to our imaginary fan base. Practice was ok today, we recorded taken away and it sounds sexy as hell because its at the right speed now. Whoo!! We were gonna play at a relay for life tonight but it was too early and we were just to lazy. I felt honored today because we played the Jepplar jig for Lindsay and Mia and they loved it, so I felt good. Anywayz, that’s just a little update for whoever has no life and actually looks at our page. Id like to give a shout out to a good friend of mine The Tall One, you know who you are.

New Graphic and a slowly evolving band...

Yo its Jepplar speaking. I haven’t posted anything in awhile so I thought I would inform our imaginary fan base with some current news. We have currently reached 10 songs!!!! Only about 6 of them are finished but the other 4 are on their way. A lot of people told us we needed some more upbeat stuff so that’s what you’re going to get. Our newer songs are pretty upbeat, especially the wammi song, your gonna love luis and his wammi pedal after you hear it. I really feel the band is coming along great, we have been having a lot of slow time and some arguments, but were getting past that now. Hopefully we can get these songs recorded and get a CD out for everyone, then have a big show. Anywayz, I’m out for now, hope you all enjoy my newest graphic of the tree in the water.

New Member!

Ok, so we have a new band member. he stands at about, 6' 3 or 6' 2. he has sexy skin. he has short, dark black hair. he has BIG hands. ladies, you know what that means. its ARTHUR KE JR. congratulations man, we are totally honored to have you in the band. hopefully you feel the same way. actually, we just kinda forced you into the band. but either way, awesome. you are the perfect addition to the band. and you are HILARIOUS. we look forward to the next practice, full of hard work and laughter to go with it. hopefully you will serve as a peacemaker between me, james and jeff constantly yelling. either way, I am super excited. watch out, breaking tides is gonna get so much better with this new Asian addition. weve got culture on our side bitches. and im designing an instrument to build for the band. i cant give the idea away, for my own reasons, and so no one steals it. thats another thing that will distinguish us; our OWN instrument.

let me tell you something about this AJ personally, from the bottom of my heart, Luis' heart. i love this kid to death. we share this "special" bond. its called, "being twins." we are twins, bonded by love and looks. together we form one hell of a team. and when i am onstage with AJ, i feel so much more confident and better about myself. so my performance level with AJ in the band will be much higher now. thanks AJ, im honored to be part of your life. that sounded pretty gay.

Expose this biatch...

As you have read from the rest of the band... the show sucked at ovation. I am not going to go into details but... I would just like to give a nice big "F-YOU" to exposure and their money hungry asses.

"Oh, we are this great group that gets bands together for a cool little show". Those are the words they sell. It should really sound something more like:

"Hello, we are a group of money hungry assholes who would like to take thousands of dollars from your band and your friends so you can play in a giant tin can of a venue that is an hour away and sounds terrible for about 10 minutes. We would also like to inform you that this is all just so that we can gain tens of thousands of dollars from you sorry bitches. One more thing, we don't pick winners, we pick the band that is best friends with the announcer and who can scream the loudest."

Surely if they advertised themselves like that we would have replied to our invitation to the battle with a big "PISS OFF"

Anyway, we are not being sore losers because we lost or anything, because we all went in there knowing that they were going to pick the band that could scream the loudest and longest. We are just informing everyone that the little company known as "exposure" is just a fake, they are a group of organized thieves. The moral of the story is... if you have a band and get invited to play a show for exposure, just please don't do it (unless your band has no idea what music is and strums power-chords up the ass while screaming, in that case sign up immediately because your band will win their mediocre prize).
