In addition to stints as a newspaper reporter and college English teacher, David Soyka has been a freelance writer since 1978. Trading as ProseNet Communications, he has conceptualized and developed a range of strategic advertising, marketing, training, and technical materials for advertising agencies and Fortune 1000 companies in the telecommunications, financial, healthcare, pharmaceutical, retail and energy industries. He also writes short stories, magazine articles, and book reviews for a variety of print and on-line publications.
He is the short fiction columnist for BlackGate magazine, where he also contributes to a weekly blog.
As a disk jockey for WTJU in Charlottesville, VA, he co-hosts Vagabond Shoes, where he plays basically whatever he wants.
