Evan Almighty audition and Ruffian
This week's trip to Wilmington and the results of
waiting for Ruffian callback outcome.
Well, I wrote about the Evan Almighty audition in
the last post. It went well. My father's heart catheterization revealed an
urgent need for an aortic valve replacement which it seems they will do next
Tuesday. Craig F. was kind enough to suggest that I call Lisa and ask her for
surgeon suggestions at Duke. It was very kind of them and I appreciate their
help and everyone's prayers during this difficult time for my family. While
rare in this business, here in our region I find many such people - people with
whom it is possible to have genuine friendships. I am
blessed.
As I drove home Tuesday, there
was still no word on Ruffian. As Tuesday night settled in I was certain that a
decision had been made and had resigned myself to having not been cast. This
morning I called Craig to thank him and Lisa for the help with my father's
issues. This evening I received the phone call from Rusty that I was cast as
Dinny. Turns out that ESPN's process of approving the cast was waiting on one
final approval. SO, I start March 26th and wrap April 18th. We will be
shooting in Shreveport and NYC and they are going to fly me back and forth for
the shoot. I am so very grateful for that as the one drive for the callback was
difficult enough. As an actor in this region I am accustomed to modest travel
reimbursement or a mileage equivalent instead of full reimbursement or a flight
to Louisiana... so this is fantastic. I will be trying to keep regular updates
and notes of what happens on the shoot so stay tuned here. Next blog entry will
be about classes this week.
