The pricing information will give you a rough idea of the costs involved but each shoot is unique.

There may be ways to save money, to get better images, and the more I know about your taste and what you're using the images for, the more successful the shoot.

Please feel free to ask questions.

In addition to the email contact I can be reached at 617-426-3227.

The 2D hourly rate is $80.00 with a 3 hour minimum including set-up. If you only have a few pieces to photograph please call: If I'm set up for another shoot we can photograph less than the minimum.

Digital:

I photograph in a raw format and after calibration, output a 16 bit RGB tif for final editing. These files will be converted to an 8bit tiff for maximum compatibility.

Basic digital touch-up is included in the price.

If you need other formats ( such as jpegs for the web ) and/or specific sizing I'm happy to do this. The cost is $5.00 / image.

If you have a specific use in mind (print or web for example) I can calibrate accordingly.

For a straight-forward digital shoot this will come to about $40.00 per painting.

Film:

I no longer shoot 35mm slides but digital files can be converted to slides quite nicely.

Please call about large and medium format.

General:

Work under glass, high gloss varnishes, unmounted work and large work - all add to the price.

To minimize costs I suggest having work mounted, unframed, and unvarnished.

For a film shoot please also see film/processing costs.
I have an hourly rate of $80.00 with around a 5 piece minimum. However, if I'm set up due to a prior job I can shoot fewer pieces. Please call.

For a basic shoot I'd estimate this would come to about $65.00 - $80 per view. More complex work - for example large sculpture or jewelery requiring digital composites - requires more time . This includes minor photoshop clean up etc..

$150.00 for transportation in the Boston area

Any other costs (parking, tolls etc.)
I use a 24" wide HP z3100 printer. This is a state of the art machine with internal calibration, 11 colors (4 blacks), and can print on any inkjet medium.

For prints up to 44" wide I have access to an epson 9800 printer.

However, a good digital print requires a good digital file.

There are pixels and then there are pixels. A jpeg or even a tiff from a point and shoot will not give the results that an slr can deliver. This has to do with the tiny sensor size of the point and shoot. This results in noise and lack of color depth.

Working with jpegs is iffy. Each time one is opened and saved it adds compression artifacts to an already compressed file. Tiff or psd formats will provide better results especially if they need tweaking..

Simple things like upsizing and basic cleaning are fast, but the better the file the lower your cost.

With this in mind:

Any computer work will be billed at $50/hr..

Standard Color Inkjet prints:

8.5 x 11:..1st: 27.50.....additional:..14.00
11 x 14..........35.00........................17.50
16 x 20..........60.00........................28.00

For Fine Art Prints please call
Banner prints are $10/sq. foot

In studio printing he banners are up to 24" wide and 8' long. for larger sizes please call.

I use 15mil (480gsm) matte vinyl: This is a heavy weight, flexible and durable material.

I use an 11 color HP z3100 printer for vibrant colors.

This fee includes sizing the file and minor color correction. Further computer work will be charged at $50/hour

Mailing costs will be shipping (usps with insurance an delivery notification) + $8.00 packing materials and handling.

I can supply clips but it would be cheaper for you to order them seperately.

An hourly rate of $50.00 applies.

For a web size scan and a 35mm slide that is professionally photographed (color correct and good tonal range) this should be around $12.00. You can get far cheaper scans but my experience hasn't been good.

I offer in-house scanning on a calibrated flatbed. I use multipass, IR cleaning and hardware file reduction. These techniques enhance shadow detail and reduce noise. This is more than adequate for the web and print documentation. If you need higher res scanning I can do virtual drum for larger jobs.

If your slides are not so good I'm happy to work with them as long as you have realistic expectations. I can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear but I'll do my best to make a better sow's ear.

For fine art prints you will generally need higher resolution scans. For virtual drum scans please contact me.

6x7mm: $35/roll

4x5: $7.50/sheet
$8 for each initial cd

$10.00 for each initial dvd

$5.00 each additional disc

I'll keep a copy at the studio for at least one year.
When mailing jewelry please include a return label.

I will insure the returned at the same rate you use. Please include this information.

Please make sure your work is cleaned. I'll take care of dust and other imperfections but I can't know your intent.

Look carefully before you send it, bearing in mind that the final image may be many times larger than the actual piece and cameras are remorseless. The basic rate includes some retouching but large inclusions and other flaws may add to the cost.

Any preferences in composition, examples you like, and other information related to your taste will help with a successful shoot. Let me know.
