All Apple Notebook computers use Lithium-ion Batteries and while they are very durable, they do require a certain amout of care to make them last longer. Eventually, after two or three years, they will need to be replaced. On the models before year 2009 this can be done by the user. On models year 2009 or greater, they must be replaced by a Mac Authorized Service Depot.
