The Twentieth AnniversaryJanuary 24 will mark the
twentieth anniversary of the introduction of the Apple Macintosh Computer, and
the running of the now infamous “1984” advertisement during the
Super Bowl.
It is interesting to note how that “little friendly
box” captured the imagination of most of us with its thin manuals, its
12” black and white screen, its “sizeable” 128 KiloBytes of
memory, its two floppy drives (but no hard drive), and the fastest processor
available at the time - a 8Mhz 68000 Motorola.
Touted as the
“Computer for the Rest of Us” and as the “Bicycle of the
Mind”, the Macintosh did move many “into computers” for the
first time.
Fortunately, and unfortunately, those days of simplicity
quickly vanished, leading us to the current day GigaHz processors, GigaByte hard
drives, and large format “cinema displays”.
Having a LISA
with 5 and 10 Mega Byte hard drives, a whole 1 Mega Byte of Ram, and
multi-tasking, we road out the “storm” until February 1987 when the
Mac II was introduced.
It is somewhat amazing to examine how far and
how fast Apple’s technology has taken us. What an interesting
journey.
Often we wonder what happened to those “thin
manuals”. :-)
New Web Page for
evoy.comWe have “renovated” our website in an effort
to make the experience for our Canadian user easier and more simple to
navigate.
We hope you will find our new format more accessible, and
our splash screen “more Canadian”. We do look forward to your
feedback.
PowerCADD v6.08 for OS X and OS
9.2.2The French VersionFinally, the French version
began shipping on 29 Dec 03.
The English VersionA new
update was posted on 22 Dec 03.
We strongly recommend that you
download and install PowerCADD 6.08, PowerDWG 6.08, and WildTools 7.07. (
updates can be downloaded from this
link on our web site )
The improvements to PowerCADD in
6.08 have been of the “polishing the stone” variety but are
nevertheless worth the time to install it as significant, ongoing improvements
have been made to PowerDWG.
The improvements made to PowerDWG are
indeed significant, particularly in the abilty to overcome the mistakes made by
ACAD users that result in “postage stamp”
translations.
Some the new PowerDWG features for such “problem
solving” are not obvious and are best demonstrated by a call to our
support line.
When you encounter a “problem dwg” file,
send us a stuffed copy of the dwg file, then call us for a “walk
thorough” of how to use the new PowerDWG features to solve the
“problem”.
Demo VersionNew demo versions
have also been posted and are good source for trying out and test drivng the
new updates.
These
demo versions include PowerDWG and WildTools provide a facility for
those who do not have PowerDWG and/or WildTools to try out their
capabilities.
PowerCADD v7Work will begin on
PowerCADD v7 very soon. All user suggestions for improvements can be sent to us
