How others think of you...

So someone who used to work at my company saw me on iChat tonight and started pinging me. It was nice to hear from him, but he had some things to say to me that really caught me off guard. Note this is a guy who I liked working with, but would not have expected to have impacted him much, you know.

I went into a meeting the other day, and we were playing one of those "Icebreaker" games.
I thought "What would popemark say?"
So when it was my turn I said "My name is Chris, I work in the Enterprise Services division, and I...... <dramatic pause>
LOVE <dramatic pause>
Blaxploitation movies."

Wow.

This was especially odd for me today, because at a beer bash at work, I caught up with another guy I have known for years. We will call him JizzMonkey. He and I used to do phone technical support years ago. I mentored him probably seven years ago when he started. And he reminded me and several other co-workers that I would end every call by saying, "Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to assist you today! :)" Then I would hang up. And say, "...you stupid worthless piece of shit."

And I think that I could use that as a meeting management technique in my project meetings.
