About Us
We're Jim & Laura Podlasek.  We currently live in the Piedmont of North Carolina, Charlotte to be exact.  While not originally from here, but we are definitely enjoying the weather and friendships of the Carolina's.

That takes us back to where we met. 

Omaha, Nebraska.

We like to think of Omaha as one of the best kept secrets in the Midwest. Great dining, theater, art, shopping, and some great Kite Flying! 

Which is how we first met.  There is a kite group known as Midwest Winds Kitefliers which Jim was a member of.  One weekend Chris Nimmo(Jim's friend) called to see what was going on for the weekend, which was a kite event in Wayne, NE called Chicken Days.  The Kitefliers would put on exhibition kite flying at small town events for a donation to the kite group to fund other larger Kite Flys. Since Chris hadn't been to one of these events, let alone Chicken Day's :)  He decided to go along.  Now Laura at the time was one of Chris's co-workers and over heard the kiting discussions, and invited herself along.  Long story short, Jim and Laura Met, Jim Proposed at the same event a few years later and they were Married on October 21, 2000. 

In the Spring of 2002 a job change for Jim brought them to Charlotte, NC where they met the WACKOS (Wings Across Carolina Kiting and Okra Society).
