On my way into Dyke Marsh I bumped into a couple of birders. They were talking about ways to juice their “life” lists. A near total waste of time, I thought. The last time I bumped into these birders was a couple of years ago. Then, these birders were trying to decide which listing software was the program to buy. Why we raise new birders to worship their life lists is a mystery to me.

Out on the Dyke Marsh, three of non-birders discussing bird clubs of all things. “What do they do,” one person asked. “Don’t know,” came the reply. Me either, I thought.
