Jody has been a professional musicians and educator for over 35 years. Jody’s musical experiences run the gamet from Jazz to World, Pop, Experimental, Improvisational Music of all types, Contemporary Classical, Studio Work and Electronics. Much of Jody’s performing revolves around his first loves: Jazz and Free Improvisation. Jody performs on Drumset and Hand Percussion/Drums, Bass(Acoustic and Electric), Vibes/Marimba and Piano.
Jody’s present musical projects include “Adelante” which he is the founding member of. Adelante’s music fuses jazz, improvisational music, world/folk traditions, contemporary classical and ambient/electronic music. Jody also performs with “Milieu” a contemporary jazz group, Pianist/Composer Catherine Marie Charlton’s Improvisational Jazz/World/New Age Duo/Trio/Ensemble, with “The Will Monson Trio” a modern jazz trio, “The Juniper Trio” a contemporary jazz trio, “3Peace” a contemporary jazz trio, “Maveja” contemporary percussion ensemble w/Tony Mascara Jr. and Anthony Vega, The Jazz Duo of Danny Osterweil-saxes and J. Jody Janetta-bass, and “LightsEdgeProject” a duo w/guitarist Paul Mimlitsch (Colorado). Drumming/Percussion/Bass/Composing for Modern Dancer/Choreographer “Leslianna Federici”, Percussion with Electric Sitarist/Synths player Bob Price…Jody also performs with singer/songwriter/guitarist Ruth Wyand. Jody continues do freelance studio work and live performances with a variety of creative artists.
Jody’s previous work has been with: Alan Cassett-guitarist/composer(TV’s 90210), saxophonist William Janssen(Adrian Belew), Colorado/Florida guitarist Jeff Miller, world renowned Philadelphia saxophonist Elliott Levin, guitarist Geno White, the jazz trio “Koan”, bassist Paul Wilezol’s jazz trio, “Fritz” a contemporary fusion group with 2 bassists, 2 drummers, a percussionist and guitar player, Musiclective Creative Music Ensemble, Group Motion Dance Company, The Nubian Percussion and Dance Ensemble(under the direction of master percussionist Bill “Sonny” Perren), “Equinox” jazz/world music group, Solstice World Music Ensemble, Improvisational Arts Ensemble(multi-media group w/dancers, musicians and painters), “Invasion of Time” w/Jim Speer-Chapman Stick and Paul Mimlitsch-Warr Touch-Style Guitar, “My Louise” an acoustic contemporary folk-trio and “Skinwalker” folk/world music trio.
