Daniel Osterweil is a multi-instrumentalist/ composer who is featured, in "Adelante", on Saxophones (7 types) and Flutes (including Recorders and stone flutes). Aside from studies with Bob Kindred (Woody Herman) and Phil Urso (Chet Baker) Dan studied at The College of Music at University of Colorado, Boulder and performed with Karl Berger, John Lindberg, and Ed Blackwell at the Naropa Institute. Dan also spent time studying and performing at The Creative Music Studio (Woodstock, N.Y.) with Don Cherry, Anthony Braxton, Jack DeJohnette, George Russell, John Cage, Allen Ginsburg, and others and has studied songwriting with Rosanne Cash and Rodney Crowell at the Omega Institute, Rheinbeck, N.Y.

Fluid in a variety of musical styles Dan had performed (4 yrs.) with the contemporary Rock band "13th Floor" where he played sax, keyboards, and sang background. In Philadelphia he played the Blues with Sonny Rhodes and George Bonds, performed at the ?Painted Bride Arts Center? and played with the "Group Motion Dance Studio" at performances in Maine, Princeton, and Arizona. On two occasions he was a featured performer on WXPN Radio. Jazz projects have included work in the highly regarded trio "Koan" in which Jody Janetta was also a member.

Dan counts the following influences: Coltrane, Dolphy, Ornette, Captain Beefheart, the Bonzo Dog Band, Wayne Shorter, Weather Report, Eno, Daniel Lanois, Harold Budd, Ravi Shankar, Fela Kuti, Sam Rivers, Joan Jett, Gram Parsons, Merle Haggard, Firesign Theater, Ed Blackwell, Dave Holland, Loreena McKennit, Richard Thompson, Frank Zappa, Sidney Bechet, XTC, Anthony Braxton, Paul Desmond, Bryan Ferry, James Brown, Art Robbins, Circus Music, Bob Marley, The Kinks, The Grateful Dead and Group Motion Dance Studio.

When not performing Dan can often be found hard at work in "The Haven", his fully equipped recording studio.
