Review:

DragThing is dock replacement application. It has more features and options than the Apple Dock. DragThing has been around for 10 years. DragThing allows you to configure multiple docks. There are 4 basic types of docks, process dock, Disk dock, Window dock, and a Standard dock. The process dock shows running applications. Sort of like the Dock app included in OS X. You can set it to keep non-running processes in the dock just like the Apple dock. The disk dock will show mounted disks. Clicking on it will allow you to pull up a finder window of the disk. The window dock, will show you a list of open windows. And then you have standard docks, here is where some of the power of DragThing starts to show. You can create multiple docks and anchor them to different parts of screen and put whatever you want in the dock. Docks can have more than one tab in them and they can act as drawers, sliding in and out like the Apple Dock You can also adjust their opacity. Each dock is individually customizeble. The dock can be represented by an icon or text name for the tab. You can also have different colors and textures. I have a dock for frequently used applications, for another for frequently used folders. But that isn't the limit of what you can put into a dock. Maybe a template file for your monthly newsletter. DragThing also allows you to put the trash can back on your desktop. Check out the animated demo graphic on the DragThing website for example of what you can do with DragThing.

Good:

DragThing is much more flexible than the Apple supplied dock.

Bad:

New users can get lost in myriad of configuration possibilities.
