· Track Layout Design: After the table was built, I had to decide which layout would be optimal for what I was looking for, i.e. a road/street course where the utilization of the available table space had to be maximal.
o To design it, I used a very good, although a bit expensive (in my opinionJ) piece of Software: Tracker 2000.
o Unfortunately Tracker2000 is no longer supported by it’s developer, so the best available option (and free J) out there is Ultimate Racer
o For Carrera Go!!! you can use Carrera’s own design software: Carrera-StreckenPlaner
· I had to create my own definition file for Artin 1/43 as it does not exist in Tracker2000. If interested, you can download the definition file I created (right click and save as).
· While we are on the topic of layouts:
o Here is a page with many 1/43 Artin layouts for various footprints/areas, both fantasy layouts and replicas of real tracks like the 2004 F1 circuits and Le Mans.
o The High Density Layout Project by Katarr.
o Here is a great archive of all kinds of layouts for 1/32 scale by Slotict.
· Track Layout: Then it is time to start laying out the track. After it was completed, I put up a few guardrails and tried it out for a few days with stock Artin wall warts, controllers, and cars. Once I was fully satisfied, and knew that I would like and keep the layout, I moved on to the other phases of the project.
