Upgrading a Carrera Go!!!

Heiko Kalkowski (He posts under the nickname GoToThemax on the HRW Forum) has made some very interesting modifications to a few Carrera Go!!! cars, adding a flag guide and a Ninco motor among other things.

v  Heiko has his own web page at: http://www.gotothemax.de (in German but lots of pictures and Heiko says he will add to it soon)

v  Heiko and other 1/43 enthusiasts also have their own forum in German at: http://www.carrera-go.info/forum

v  Heiko has been working on upgrading his Carrera go!! cars with new tyres, wheel, axles, bearings, guide and motor, essentially replace the whole drive train. Here are pictures of two modified cars: Corvette C5-R and Aston Martin

v  The tyres: Ninco slicks 19x10mm (front axle/rear axle)

v  Rear axle/transmissions: the rear axle gear has 24 teeth with ball bearings and the engine pinion has 9 teeth

v  The engine: Ninco NC5 rated at 20,000 revolutions per minute, maximum input current of 140mA and torque of 290g/cm at 14,8V. A Ninco NC2 was also tested, but the NC5 has a better braking behavior

v  The magnet: button magnet 5x8mm with 1500gm force placed right behind the guide inside the chassis. It is there more to ensure good contact of the guide on the track rather than for pure magnetic down force

v  The car weighs at 86g including 2x5g of leads placed on the sides of the motor; approximately twice as heavy as the original car. The weight distribution is about 40:60 (front axle/rear axle)

v  The guide is from a Carrera Profi car

v  The dimensions: like the original car, only the width is now 48,5mm at the rear tires
