It turns out that there are fairly nice and cheap 1/43 bodies that can be found on Amazon: Fast Lane 1:43 Scale body Kit Super Slick 2 Pack for $5.99. These are also found at Toys’R Us and other places. With minor work, they can be adapted to the Artin chassis.
· Here is how I built a Mini Cooper:
o I used PCB sheets to widen the chassis a little bit, you can also use 1/16” black styrene (available in 12x12” panels from McMasterCarr for $10.00). The strips I use are about 25mm x 4mm.
o I had to enlarge the wheel opening on the body using a Dremel tool
o I reduced the axles a bit (cut with Dremel tool) to make the wheels fit under the car
o I used a white plastic tab in the front to enable screwing the chassis to the body
o I wired some lights (as explained here)
o That’s it.

· Detailed pictures of the same thing on a red Viper:

· Here is a 350Z, this one uses styrene for the chassis wings (side extension) instead of PCB material.

· Here are several cars this way: a pair of Vipers, a pair of Mini Cooper, and a pair of 350 Z
