With the recent increased interest in the 1/43 scale, it was just a matter of time until some of the more creative and daring hobbyists would jump in and start making the sort of things no slot manufacturer will ever have in their line-up. Kevin who posts on the HRW 1/43 board under the name "DirtLateModel" is one such guy.
v One thing that many slotters always say when referring to the 1/43 scale is "They are just toys." By that, they usually mean that the level of details and the quality (in terms of painting and liveries) of the 1/43 scale cars is not good enough. Fortunately, there are some very talented and creative 1/43 people who are in this hobby to actually create and make something themselves and want to be able to do that without having to break the bank every other day.
v Kevin, a.k.a. DirtLateModel is one of the most prolific and muti-talented guys around and has managed, in only a couple of months, to prove that you can take a dirt cheap Artin 1/43 chassis and create your own slot cars that actually look incredibly good.
v He was nice enough to let me collect a few pictures of his work and put them together for this. If you want to know how he did it, whether he sells them, or just to leave him a congratulatory note you can do so at his yahoo chat board or at the Home Racing World 1/43 board.
v All the bodies you will see below are either vacuum formed (he makes his own wood molds) or scratch built from styrene sheet. Then they are mounted on top of Artin 1/43 chassis either standard or modified (as for the top fuel cars).
Top Fuel cars

Vacuum formed Funny car

Vacuum formed GTP bodies

Vacuum formed old coupes

Sprint cars

And of course, the collection would not be complete without some Dirt late Models, after all that's where he got his nickname

Fantastic job DLM !!!
