Artin 1:43 cars: Motors

Tips and Tricks regarding 1/43 motors

v  A tip from “Rauncy”: I use Life Like Rail Cleaner on the motor brushes while the motor is running and you can hear the rpms increase. It's in the train section of the hobby shops. It's a blue colored liquid @ $5

v  A tip from “Micyou03”: Over the weekend I ran about 12 Artin motors (some new and some used) in burnishing solution (like you would use in a tumbler), for 3 minutes at 3 volts. They are all running great now. When I hit my 11ft straight I can notice the cars really accelerate and brake at the end. I have also been truing and gluing and truing again my rear tires. These Artin cars are even better than I knew they were. This is what I use: http://www.riogrande.com/pmc/339-394.htm, mixed at 1 to 2 ounces per gallon of water. It’s strange. I get the motor cranking at 3 volts. Then I lower it in, after about 15 seconds the motor sounds like it’s going to die. Then it begins to pick back up and stays constant. I thought I fried the first one I did, but then when it began to pick up speed again I felt better, but still wasn't sure I didn't ruin the motor. When I tested it I was pretty sure I didn't. It ran great, as do all the others I did.
