In the "spirit" of the classic vintage spooky 3D board games Which Witch? game, Green Ghost game, and the IDEAL Haunted House game comes the brand new 2007 Scooby Doo 3D Haunted House game. These are called "3D board games" because their game boards aren't simply flat; their playing areas have substantive height, depth, and width, feature standing and interactive scenery, and are spooky - the way we like them! Muhwahahahaha
The primary mechanical apperatus interaction is similar to that of the 1980's game "Forbidden Bridge" in that, when the push down mechanism of the ghost here (the giant tiki head in the FB game) it quickly grinds back up again loudly and triggers set pieces to move.
The fully-assembled game measures 14 1/2" tall and 11 1/2" wide.
The object of the game is to be the first player to move up through the 4 levels of the haunted house to the roof and remove the disguise from the ghost-costumed villian there. Along the way you'll encounter "weird obstacles" such as the shaky floors and stairs, the barging ghostly knight (if you're lucky you'll get trapped behind him), a swinging sarcophagus, and others that cause your playing piece to plunge to its peril and send you back to the nearest safe spot.
When you set off the traps by pushing down the ghost (it doesn't need batteries) the house makes a loud "rrruuuurrrr" sound that will make you jump out of your shoes!
Commentary: Hopefully this is just the first game in a series of games. Future games could be "companion games" that can be played singly or placed right next to this game to extend gameplay. Possibilities could be a mansion with spinning bookcases, a haunted forest/graveyard, a sub-basement that this game could sit on top of, other game/scenes, and then a ghost train to link the ends together. What do you say, Pressman?
