Randomizing Paragraphs in AppleWorks

Problem:

Many times it is necessary to give the same test to students sitting close to one another and you need different versions of the same test. With the randomize feature in AppleWorks, different versions are easily created.

Caution!

  • Make sure you donít number your test until after you complete these steps.
  • Make sure you have a copy saved, especially if you want to use it as one of your test copies.

Directions:

Make sure each question is in its own separate paragraph.
For AppleWorks version 5:

  1. Pull down help off the tool bar.
  2. Choose ClarisWorks/AppleWorks assistants.
  3. Choose Paragraph Sorter.
  4. Choose randomize.

Now you will have a new version of your test & can number the problems.

For AppleWorks version 6:

  1. Select (highlight) all of the questions to be randomized.
  2. From the Edit menubar, select Sort Selected Paragraphs.
  3. Choose Ramdomize from pull down menu.

Did you realize…

that you could also sort (alphabetize) word processed lists using these directions also?
