- Click twice on Macintosh HD
- Click twice on Microsoft Office 2001
- Click twice on Microsoft PowerPoint
- Click once on PowerPoint Presentation
- Choose a slide layout-- under New Slide -- any square you want or scroll down for more slide choices
- Click twice on any slide
- Click on designated areas to type information or click on the black A from the tools menu on the far left side of your screen to make a text box. After you click on A, you can take your cursor to your slide and right to make a box of any size. Now click inside and begin typing inside the box.
To type in information (a different way) or To rearrange your slides
After you have created several slides, on the left-hand side you will see your pages and each one is numbered.You can click and drag to put them in any order. Click and drag box next to the number to put them in any order. For example, if you want to move page one to be your last page, just click on the page one box and drag it below or on last page number. The number will remain in order but the text will move to the location you dragged it to. You can also view slides by clicking on arrows located on right-hand side. You can type changes within each slide box or make changes on the left-hand margin, as you type in left margin you will see changes taking place in the right-hand box.
To delete any box Click in box and click on any little square surrounding the box then press the delete key.
To change a Font Click on the words and highlight them, then go to Format (top menu bar) ----Font, make changes, click OK.
To change the Style -(bold, italic, underline), Size (smaller or larger letters) or Font (letters like Old English, Geneva etc.) Look for Formatting Palette on the right-hand side. If you do not see the Formatting Palette on the right-hand side, then go to View (top menu bar)----Formatting Palette. When you go to View and you see a check mark by Formatting Palette, it means that it is already open. Look around your screen for it within the box. Click on the Delta (triangle) by Font to point downward, click on Presentation Delta to also face downward. Also, when you click on your text or highlight some of your text, you will see more choices in your Palette box. Pick and choose whatever you want.
To bring in a new slide Go to Insert from (top menu bar) ------ New Slide click twice on any box--continue the above to insert as many slides as needed.
To View show When you are ready to watch your slide presentation, go to Slide Show (top menu bar) ---- View Show. To continue from one slide to the next, just press return or space bar after each slide.
To add animation (special effects) Go to Slide Show-----Animations------Custom Click on page 1 (in left-hand corner) --click on the Effects tab Entry Effect---Appear or your choice, then exit. Use these effects to bring in and take out each page. Click on page 2, add effect etc.
To insert a picture Go to Insert ---- Picture ---- Clip Art click once on any picture, then click once on Insert in the bottomright- hand corner. You can scroll down and click on other green arrows to get more picture selections.
Creating a folder to SAVE pictures from the Internet Before you open any program, go to File --- New Folder name your folder pictures or your preference. Save the Picture folder on the desk top so you can find it more easily.
To insert a picture from the Internet Search the Internet and find a picture related to your project. Click once on the picture. Hold down the mouse button till you see a prompt box. Highlight Save this image as. Look for proper folder (on your desk top) to save your pictures in. Be sure to document the site where you copied your picture from.
