One of the best ways to get
started
using
Studio 8 is to go to the menubar and select Help.
From the Help
menu,
select Guided Tour.
This
excellent tutorial is always available for you to learn and review.
Getting Started:
- Gather your resources under the Capture
tab
- Capture the video from the camera using the video
controls on
the screen.
- Import sounds (music and audio)
- Import still pictures (JPEG files)
- In the Edit screen
(also
from the View menubar,)
- drag the resources to the storyboard in the desired order.
- add desired transitions
- add the desired audio
- add desired voiceover
- From the Make Movie
screen (also from the View menubar), choices
can
be made to saving the file for a variety of purposes:
- Send movie back to camera tape (best quality)
- AVI file format to be inserted into PowerPoint XP but is
very
large in file size. If the file is saved as AVI then it must be taken
into QuickTime Pro and exported
as an AVI movie to compress the file into a manageable size. Videos
should be small, preferably under 4 megabits
- MPEG file format which is better quality but is very
small
physical size.
Hints:
- When grabbing stills from the video, ALWAYS save the
still
as a JPEG, not as a BMP. Bitmapped files are very large. If used in
Studio 8, may crash the program because of the large memory
requirements.
- Bitmapped files are very large!!!
- JPEG files are much smaller.
- DO NOT just grab the still and insert it into the video.
It
can
be lost if the video is not immediately made.
- Notice that the Studio 8 video storyboard has several
tracks:
- video
- audio tied to video
- text for titles
- additional audio for voiceover
- music
- Notice that from the menubar, under the Album,
selections
can be made to
- captured video
- transitions
- titles
- photos
- sound effects
- change storyboard from icon to detailed view
- Notice that under the Toolbar menu,
- record a voice over
- add CD music (remember copyright!)
- create a title
- create background music
