The opportunity to produce multimedia products is now commonplace because low cost computers can be equipped with components that only a few years ago would have cost more the $25,000. video in and out should be an integral part of a computer system and software should be easy to produce muleimedia products.

The use of multimedia promotes a combination of learning strategies such as cooperative learning, product based learning, teacher directed learning and constructivist learning. Teachers gain experience working in these environments so that they can replicate them in their classroom.

The Multimedia Academy focuses on
  • an instructional topic in a constructivist learning environment,
  • the technology used in doing primary research,
  • the manipulation of the data in a way that new information and knowledge is created, and
  • the ultimate production of a product such as a CD-ROM that can be published for a wider audience.
