Creating QTVR Panoramas
(VR
Toolbox)
Open the VR Toolworx program from the VR Toolbox folder
- Select Create
a Panorama.
- The screen that
appears next is the screen that will guide you through the program.
Setup
- Source Format: Multiple Images
- Acquire From: PLUG-IN Image File
- Node sweep: Determine
the degrees for your panorama, usually 360.
- Max Frames: Select
the number of pictures you have captured.
- Lens Params:
Length: This is a number you might
have to play with. (For a 360 degree panorama, we have had good luck
setting
this number to 50.)
FOV: This number will automatically change when the top number is
changed.
- Image Size: Change
to Custom (at the very top of drop down menu). Set the width to 720 and
the
height to 480.
Acquire:
- Click on Multiple.
A window will appear that will allow you to browse to the location of
your
folder of pictures. Open the folder.
- Click on the
first picture. Select Add 16 or whatever total number of slides you
have.
- Click Done.
- The pictures
should be displayed horizontally. Once the computer has acquired all of
the
pictures, you are ready for the next step.
Stitch:
-
Select the Tolerance button. Move the slider to the right to
select a higher degree of tolerance. (That will cause the stitching to
take more time but the stitching will be better and require less
editing.)
-
Click in the Transparent checkbox.
-
De-select Hyper
Stitch.
-
Click Stitch.
Wait until your pictures are stitched.
-
Observe each
picture as they are aligned. If you notice horizontal alignment that
you
would like to edit, select the picture by clicking on it. Under
Adjustments
Offset, click on the appropriate arrow to align the pictures.
- Blend:
- Click on the Blend button.
- Hot
Spots tab:
- Skip the
Hot Spots unless you will be creating hot spots on the VR to which you
will
link other VR files or creating hot spots for URLs.
- Compress
tab:
- For a smaller
file, change the color depth to 16 bit (thousands of colors).
- Click the Compress
button
- Playback
tab:
- Attributes can
be set to
Annotate the copyright information
Interaction settings determine the speed of the pan,
Quality of the color and motion.
- Move the panorama to the scene you
desire for the first screen. The Initial screen (the screen designated
as
the opening screen) can be set.
- Export:
- Click on the Export Movie
button. A dialog screen will open to
allow you to select the location for the QuickTime file. Give the file
an
appropriate name, making sure that the .mov extension is attached. This
is
the file that can be used on the web, in a presentation, or in a
HyperStudio.
- Save:
- Go to File and Save As.
- Give the file
a name and save the file as a Panorama file. This file allows you to
come
back and edit the file in VR Toolworx at a later date.
