Reading to your child is one of the most important things you can do to ensure his or her future success. It is never too early to start reading to your child. It is FREE, it doesn't require any refrigeration, you never have to dust it, and you can do it anywhere! These sites will provide a great deal of additional information about the importance of reading to children.

As you work through the TASKS assigned you will be visiting a variety of links on the World Wide Web.
TASK I: While you are in one of the sites, travel to a link that is mentioned within that site. The name of a link will be underlined blue text. Jot down the URL (address) of the site you select.

TASK II: Select two (2) of the sites listed in the Importance of reading category below, visit them, and browse through the information provided. Find a statement that impresses you about the importance of reading. Jot down the quote and give the author credit by citing your source.

TASK IV: Visit two (2) of the Suggested books sites listed below.  Look over the suggested books. Are you familiar with any of the books mentioned? Go to the shelves in the library and locate one (1) of the books on the list. (Children's books are located in the 800's in our library.) Read the book you select, write down the title, author, and illustrator. Write a brief summary of the book. Usually just two or three sentences will do the job of summarizing the book.
