For example:
Lower level: Locate a country on the internet in the
computer lab prior to students arrival. (If multiple connections available
you may want to have several countries available at the same time.) Let
students locate a particular symbol or tradition they associate with Christmas
and compare/contrast with country chosen. Or, let each student
select a particular custom of that country on which to report to the rest
of the class (grade level).Or select a particular
country and allow a group of students to select customs of that country.
Upper
level: Assign a tradition we associate with Christmas and have students
locate history
OR identify various countries who practice the same
custom. The students can compare/contrast custom variations.
Have students or groups of students to locate and compile a multimedia
presentation from the information located. Allow input of original
work as well as information and images located from other sources as well
as the internet.
Gifted and Talented students
create a country or planet and its Christmas customs. Have them note
a brief history of these customs.
