Welcome to the
Administrator's Leadership in Technology Academy
The vision of the eight
day Administrator's Leadership in Technology Academy is that all
principals
will provide the instructional leadership for teaching and learning
that
includes the use of technology.
The framework for the
Leadership Academy is researched based offering a variety of
professional development models, including some that are program-based,
Participants acquire skills to build theories of good teaching with
activities each session that will help strategize how to overcome
forces that influence their ability to take action. In each session
participants engage in collaborative learning teams to process and
synthesize the information presented. Participants are provided time to
plan communication and methods to assess the what works best with their
overall school improvement activities. Each session is delivered as a
one-day event.
The goals of this academy
are that all administrators will acquire skills in
- decision making
regarding the use of technology,
- the creation of a
vision for the use of technology in teaching and learning based on the
research,
- the understanding of
standards for the use of technology and the change in teaching pedagogy
to
include the constructivist theory.
- the characteristics
of technology applications integrated into the curriculum as well as
the
identification of tools which will measure the use of technology,
- staffing for
technology in schools and methods of professional development,
- measures of
accountability and assessment,
- collaboration and
communication with a computer,
- building a learning
community for technology in education,
- strategies for
continuous improvement,
- investigation of
trends and use of the handheld computer, and
- the use of the
productivity tools on the computer while creating a useful product.
Participants will
- participate in the
Academy activities,
- model the use the
productivity software,
- create visual
presentation,
- learn technology
skills appropriate to their job, and
- work on the
technology goal of their campus improvement plan.
Number of days and topics to be
determined in collaboration with client. Typical number of days for
academy is five.
