Thank you, Apple.
I am sincerely honored to have been chosen an Apple Distinguished
Educator
in 1996 and reappointed each year to the present. Working with the
exemplary
educators in my class and the classes to follow has been a privilege.
The
sharing and caring from the other ADEs is indescribable. Our first
leader,
Martha Rolley, became my model in education, always prodding to
excellence
and encouraging learning. Roger Knight promoted working together as we
worked on the various software bundles and with Apple in the
development
of educational initiatives. Ted Olsson generated camaraderie among the
community with his ever-listening ear and wonderful sense of humor.
Karen
Safran supported the ADE program in every way, making sure that Apple
was
there for us and we were there for Apple. Maxx Judd, our current
sponsor,
is there to support us and answer our every question. What a trip we
had in Europe the summer of 2006.
The friendships developed over the years at Apple headquarters in Cupertino, bunking together at the Summerfield Suites in Campbell, Camp Apple, conferences, workshops, online on the listserv, and at times when we just "got together" are part of life's treasured memories. The ADE community is truly a living, breathing entity - one that has evolved over the years, but will never perish.
Thank you, Apple.
