Solo in Frankston

Alone in Frankston for the day, I decided to take an easy laid back day. Sorry not really any photos, but you can read why.

Early this morning Judy and Victoria left to meet up with Steve on the east coast of Australia, leaving me in their house all alone. Other then spending some time checking my email and booking a hotel in Melbourne city for the following night I planned on taking it easy in Frankston today. In fact there really isn't that much to tell about today so i will be short. I booked my flight from Melbourne to Perth, booked a hotel in Melbourne city, and decided to catch a bus down to Frankston so that I could spend some time out on the bay. By the time I had taken care of everything in order to leave the house it was about two in the afternoon. Judy had warned me that the door locked when it closed but I saw that there was a set of keys in the door so I knew I was ok. Anyway, Judy mentioned that across the street a Rhodesian family friend had a set of keys to the house. As I left the house I locked the door and began my trek down to the ocean. However I didn't get to far when I realized I had left my camera. When i got back to the door I quickly realized that the keys I had grabbed were not the ones that she was referring to when she said the door locked when it was closed. I had the keys to the dead bolt, and the door handle was the one that auto locked. So I was locked out of someone else's house. It also dawned on me at this point that while I knew the family friend lived across the street, I never bothered to ask exactly which house across the street she actually lived in. With hunger becoming a bigger issue i decided to go grab lunch somewhere close.
When looking for a close meal I ended up having to break one of my golden rules of international travel, I ate at an American fast food restaurant. In this case it was KFC, and let me just tell you don't bother eating KFC outside of the US, its no where near as good.
After lunch I grabbed the bus and headed to downtown Frankston. Frankston is your traditional small town suburb. It reminded me of many small coastal towns north of Boston. After a bit of a walk I made it out to the bay-side. I spent about thirty minutes just watching the world pass by. From there I walked about half the way back to Steve and Judy's before I grabbed the bus. Luckily the neighbors were very nice and when I explain how I was locked out they pointed out what house was the family friend across the street. They too were very understanding and let me borrow the keys to get back into the house. I then spent some time watching TV, checking out places to stay in Perth online, and went to the family restaurant around the corner from their house. After dinner I pretty much came home and relaxed an went to bed.
Oh I should mention the one other member of the family. Or I guess I should say members. Steve and Judy had a cat who had just had a kitten, I mean JUST had a kitten. This kitten had to be maybe two weeks old. The cat was very friendly almost too friendly, always hoping on laps, or rubbing up against your leg, but when it came to her kitten one peep from the kitten and the mom came running. For someone who doesn't really like cats, I liked these two.
