The City/State of Westend

The easternmost city in the New World, Westend was founded on the landing site of the great explorer Heironymus Enfloughensia.

Enfloughensia had thought he had found the westernmost extent of the world, hence the name of the city. Unfortunately, he had failed to notice the land directly to the west of Westend, which comprised the rest of the largest landmass on the planet. He also had failed his primary school geography, or else he would have known that there was no westernmost extent—as the world is round.

In the grand tradition of its founder, the government of Westend has eschewed all formal education, declaring, "common sense is far better than book learnin' any day." Due to this lustful embrace of its own stupidity, Westend has become the greatest military and economic power in the world. This is much to the relief of the more civilized nations in the world. Who is better suited to be a great military power than a group of people who can't find their city on a map? And, who better to have obscene amounts of money than people who can't add one and one without three abaci and math text.
