Protect your institution, your customers, and your reputation.

body
It’s in the headlines every day. Calamities both natural and man-made wreak havoc on businesses. Floods, storms, power outages, equipment failures, computer viruses and a host of other major disasters have increased nearly 300% this decade, and companies across the country are discovering their new dependence on technology has created additional vulnerability. In fact, three out of five companies experiencing a catastrophic event cease operations within two years of the disaster .
The potential loss of revenues, profits and customers poses a substantial financial risk and could even lead to the failure of an institution. Disasters can never be eliminated, but regulations state that officers and directors are responsible for adequately preparing a bank for business recovery. Moreover, officers and directors could be held personally liable for any loss to individuals, corporations and shareholders due to inadequate preparation.
You not only need a plan but also a partner to protect the information and services that are the core of your business.

JHA’s Bank Business Recovery Service is the only disaster recovery specialist focussing exclusively on the financial industry. We are set up specifically to meet the needs of your institution, with advanced familiarity with your hardware and software. We’re committed to one thing: helping you recover. Where some services think all you need is a room, we provide the friendly, helpful and knowledgeable hands-on proactive assistance you need under trying conditions. No one knows your JHA applications like BBRS.
Where some services provide the same generic approach to businesses from insurance to retail, we focus entirely on financial institutions, and understand the minute details of your business. Our solutions are more flexible, and we often provide them for less.
While inexpensive reciprocal agreements offer no comprehensive plan or testing, we work with you at each step to build a plan and to make sure it works the way it’s supposed to. Our service, technical assistance and performance guarantees make reciprocal agreements seem even riskier, especially in larger scale disasters that can effect both partners. And our solution doesn’t limit you to after-hours access.
When a disaster strikes, you will need professional assistance. Jack Henry & Associates, Inc., has a history of providing it. For over two decades, JHA has served financial institutions across the nation by introducing enhanced products and services to meet the expanded technical needs of every institution. JHA Bank Business Recovery Service is disaster recovery you hope you never need but are glad you have.

FAQ’s
Q. What oversights do managers of financial institutions typically commit in fulfilling their disaster recovery needs?
A. The first challenge the institution faces is writing an adequate plan on paper. There is rarely enough time or expertise to achieve this internally. Once a plan is established, they need to test it at least once a year. And if a financial institution only tests their runs or parts of their operation, they have not prepared for a real disaster. The goal is to find flaws in the plan during the test, instead of during a declared disaster.
The need for a plan and the need to test it is mandated by the regulators and advised by auditors.

Q. Why don’t more institutions commit to a plan?
A. One of the biggest obstacles to a good disaster contingency plan and a good back up/recovery vendor is the cost. The managers of the institutions often do not see the benefit they are getting from the dollars spent. They have difficulty seeing that the cost of their preparations for a possible disaster are little different than the cost of insurance. You must pay regularly for insurance but do not get the benefit unless you need to file a claim. With JHA BBRS, you build value right from the start.

Q. Why is Jack Henry’s Bank Business Recovery Service the best solution for the financial institution?
A. JHA's BBRS is the only disaster recovery service designed specifically for the JHA customer. BBRS does not cater to any industry besides finance.
BBRS is the only recovery service that is knowledgeable in JHA core products, disaster recovery and finance in general. BBRS also is the only vendor offering true backup for JHA and GG Pulley image.
Most importantly, BBRS is there if and when a financial institution declares a disaster. BBRS personnel work with the financial institution all of the way. They leave nothing to chance.

Q. Why is BBRS so clearly superior?
A. BBRS was constructed for one specific purpose: To provide the best and most complete backup service available for our customers at a fair price. The price for BBRS is below the market in most cases and is based on an institution's asset size instead of the equipment contracted for.
The service is designed strictly for the JHA customer financial institution, and manned by personnel that are experts in the financial institution business. Our sole purpose is to protect JHA customer financial institutions. JHA personnel are experts with the JHA financial products and the IBM AS/400 computers, and are always available to answer any questions. Plus, our close working relationship with IBM enables delivery of replacement equipment when other vendors can’t.

Q. Can BBRS handle our ACH needs? Our FedLine?
A. Yes, and they are included in the base fee.

Q. Is POD included in our BBRS contract?
A. POD is included in the base fee of the BBRS contract. Service bureau customers may also get POD backup/recovery for a small fee.

Q. What will it cost for our BBRS subscription?
A. Each institution’s annual fee is determined by its asset size. Just call 800-299-4411 for a price quote.

Q. Can you help us with our Disaster Recovery Plan?
A. Our certified plan writers are qualified and ready to help your institution write a plan. We have two approaches to plan writing. You may attend a free seminar hosted by our plan writers, to get you started. Then, you can follow with a two-day fee workshop that will result in a written plan, or contract for a JHA plan written specifically for your institution.

Q. Where are the hot sites located and are they close enough to our institution?
A. We have hot sites strategically located around the country in Allen, TX, Angola, IN, Birmingham, AL, Charlotte, NC, Danbury, CT, Englewood, CO, Houston, TX, Monett, MO and St. Paul, MN. If the hot site is not close to your institution, you can have us do an unattended test or you can do it remotely.
