Kanani Fong: About The Writer

A writer of diverse experience, Kanani Fong has written everything from press releases to public policy opinions. In addition, she writes creative non-fiction, fiction and poetry. Currently she is working on her novel, "Deep River," a story in the California Delta where Wren Conner finds a piece of land worth saving, and love along the way.

A third-generation Californian, Kanani was born in an area of rivers and farmlands. She moved to Los Angeles to be in the land of Gidget and Moon Doggy, surfboards and clambakes, but found out that this city was much more. LA is a place of depth and shallowness, of solitude and crowds, of truths and contradictions. It's a place for both scrappers and dreamers, of desires infuriating and enthralling. Home for the writer is an old colonial close to a train station, college, jazz bar and hardware store.

She writes for the Los Angeles Times Pressmen in her blog, "Easy-Writer. Click on the links below to be taken to her blog. Kanani's stories have been published by Lonely Planet's book, "Experimental Travel." Her baccalaureate was in fine arts. She has studied creative writing through the UCLA Extension Writers' Program.
