a message for art 300 students

apropos the proportions of your pages.

Unfortunately, I do not have a copy of Empty Pockets with me to measure... I believe the book measures close to 7" x 9". Let's suppose it does, and that you're designing your pages for a book of that size. If you want to work somewhat larger, you may, but keep the proportions the same.
For those who haven't a proportional scale or "wheel," here are some numbers:

7" x 9" is proportional to: 8.5" x 11"
7" x 9" is proportional to: 10" x 13"
7" x 9" is proportional to: 11" x 14" (give or take .2")

For other sizes, buy a proportional scale. They are sold in the supply store in the building contiguous with the Duderstadt Center, directly across from our classroom, more or less. You will also find them at Michigan Book & Supply on State St. They cost about $3.00.

See you on Thursday.
PS: It was a challenge, negotiating the watery streets of Italy searching for the quintessential Italian graphic novels for the school's collection. But I got some good ones.
Ciao.
