Sneak Preview: Christian Mysteries Project

Jim Arraj and I were talking in the back of his pickup as Tyra drove from their home in the Oregon Cascades to Medofrd. . .

We were both lamenting the lack of understanding and attentiveness to the central mysteries of the Christian mysteries reflected in so many theological and spiritual writings of this day. This is not to say that official Christian teaching has changed, of course, only that so many seem to consider the ancient dogmas either irrelevant or else outmoded. So we resolved to do something about it, though each in our own way.

Tyra Arraj got in on the act and decided to pursue a unique angle on this topic. Her first installment is a list of quotes from a book by Emile Mersch. You can find it here.

Jim has made his own start as well: a scholarly reflection on the Origin of the Universe and a second chapter on Evolution and theology. These are the works of a high-powered professional theologian, meeting high-powered professional philosophers and scientists on their own level. Don't let that scare you away, however; the material is very readable and sure to expand your understanding in many directions.

My own efforts in behalf of this project are a multi-media presentation involving visual aids, audio teachings, and eventually, a discussion forum with links to resources such as those developed by the Arraj's and others which can be found on the Internet. Click here to view my start on this--subject to revision, of course. Future audios and the forum will be developed in the weeks ahead, along with a PowerPoint version of this material for sale to any takers for a nominal fee.

The material I've developed so far includes images developed in Appleworks drawing program, slides developed in Apple's Keynote presentation program, which was then exported to pdf and then converted to html with KeyWebX. The audios were produced using Amadeus and saved as mp3s for future PowerPoint presentations; Real Producer in Mac OS Classic converted the mp3 to Real Audio. It's fun to use these tools and the subject matter is very energizing to me.

Comments and feedback on the project are appreciated. Use the email link, and watch for completion within six weeks, at which time discussion of the content on a forum will be made possible.
