Philip Muncy, President of MW Enterprises, Inc and founder of Muncy Winds Music Company has been making reeds since 1976. While studing clarinet with Robert Listokin he began making his own reeds. Later working closely with Mr. Gebhard Steuer of Lindau Germany in the development of new reeds. Muncy saw the need for traditional reed making techniques to continue after the death of Mr. Steuer in 1997. In June 2001 Muncy purchased the Olivieri Reed Co. and blended reed making techniques he learned to introduce the Olivieri Elite model reeds. Charles Olivieri is retired and the Olivieri reeds are manufactured by Muncy Winds in Boone, NC USA.
