Phil is a seasoned veteran of the graphic arts industry. His work as an Art Director and Commercial Photographer has served his clients well and won him several industry awards. Philip Gómez is in charge of the day-to-day operations at Sonlight Studios. He is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in NYC and started his career as a commercial photographer. His first big break was landing a job as a staff photographer for Avon Products, Inc., where he had the opportunity to work closely with a large team of art directors and copywriters to help produce the Avon brochure.
In 1989, Phil opened a photography studio in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with his partner Fred Kenner, and added design services to the mix. An offer to work with a client in Georgia moved him once again, where he continued to work with various clients while doing more design work over time. This caught the eye of a colleague who asked him to manage the art department at Elliott Wave International, a financial market analyst firm in Gainesville, Georgia.
In 2000, Phil went to work with Media 3 Publications which was in need of someone to art direct and produce magazine-style newsletters for the financial services industry.
Today, Phil runs Sonlight Studios, where all the design and photography skills learned over the years have come full circle. He offers design, photography and Web services to businesses in the Atlanta area.
Phil loves to spend time with his wife Donna and their four boys and has coached Youth Baseball at the South Gwinnett Athletic Association in Snellville, GA. He and his family attend Grace Fellowship Church and he's also a founding member of the InDesign User Group in Atlanta.
