Peterston Castle

In the community of Peterson-super-Ely. In the historic county of Glamorgan (Modern authority of Vale of Glamorgan, preserved county of South Glamorgan).

Long fragment of thick walling remains of a castle progressively destroyed by new building. The remains of masonry belonging to the castle lie within the grounds of Caehir House to the W. and Castleby to the centre. The earliest fragment seems to represent a detached keep, retaining slight hints of C12 detail. A rectangular walled and towered enclosure, c.40m E-W by 35m, is indicated, based on a C12 great tower, the court and remaining towers being later medieval work.
