In 1230/31, Will de Cavereswelle was possibly granted, by Henry III, (In year 15 of his reign) a Royal licence to crenellate Cavereswelle (Caverswall Castle)

There is insufficient evidence to be certain about this possible licence to crenellate.


Will de Cavereswelle, leave to crenellate his house at Cavereswelle. Staffs writ only. Inquisitions taken as a result of applications to the Crown for licences to alienate land.
