Blickling manor of Bishop of Norfolk

In the civil parish of Blickling. In the historic county of Norfolk (Modern Authority of Norfolk, 1974 county of Norfolk).

Residential manor of the Bishop of Norfolk. Probably included in the licence to crenellate issued to the bishop in 1328 although as this was for all his houses may not have resulted in any building work.
This is the site of a medieval manor, known as Bishop's Manor. The outlines of buildings are visible as cropmarks in aerial photographs, and community excavations in 2000 and 2001 revealed the foundations of a building, and fragment of medieval building materials. The earthworks of undated boundaries and medieval fishponds are also visible on the site. (Norfolk HER)
