Castle Hayes

In the civil parish of Prees. In the historic county of Shropshire (Modern Authority of Shropshire, 1974 county of Shropshire).

Shropshire SMR record reads 'Castles Hayes marked in Non antiquity type character on OS 6in map of 1954.The field name Castle Hayes is recorded on the Tithe map of 1843.'
In my opinion this name suggests only that the site was in the demense holding of Sandford castle or, more likely, the bishop's palace at Preen, presumably as meadow land.
This site has been described as a;
Uncertain.
This site is rejected as a medieval fortification or palace. Nothing visible remains.
