Wanstead House

Also known as, or recorded in historical documents as; Wanstead Hall

In the civil parish of Wanstead. In the historic county of Essex (Modern Authority of London Borough of Redbridge, 1974 county of Greater London).

Medieval manor house documented from C13 and surveyed as a royal hunting lodge during C16. It was rebuilt in 1549 but demolished 1715 to make way for the new house by Colin Campbell. Field investigations by RCHME field staff in 1989-90 located no traces of the building.
This site has been described as a;
Palace.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Possible. Nothing visible remains.
