Kingston Upon Thames Castle

Also known as, or recorded in historical documents as; Moreford, Kenington, Warwick Castle

In the civil parish of Kingston Upon Thames. In the historic county of Surrey (Modern Authority of London Borough of Kingston Upon Thames, 1974 county of Greater London).

This site has been described as a;
Masonry Castle.
  Confidence: It is probable that this site was a medieval fortification or palace.   Nothing visible remains.
PastScape record reads "Site of Warwick Castle, extant in 1264 and into C15." Presumably this is the castle of Gibert de Clare taken by the king in 1264. What is the reason for this being called Warwick castle? What is the reason for this historically documented castle being missed from the usual sources? Is this the 'Goseford' castle recorded on the mappa mundi list (qv)? If extant in 1264 and into C15 then presumably masonry, but the de Clare's did not hold the manor (it was free borough) and the castle may have been a temporary work of the Baron's War.
