Castle Carrock House

Also known as, or recorded in historical documents as; Mansion House

In the civil parish of Castle Carrock. In the historic county of Cumberland (Modern Authority of Cumbria, 1974 county of Cumbria).

Possible pele tower near to Castle Carrock House, maybe that referred to in the 'Survey of Gilsland 1589' as Mansion House. There is some confusion between this possible pele and the possible castle in King. PastScape record reads “ According to Curwen there was a yard wall at Castle Carrock which contained the remains of an old pele. A photograph shows a two-storeyed, massively-built, thatched building on the east side of the road to Brampton, opposite Castle Carrock House, and stones from it have been used to build a garden wall there.”
