In the civil parish of Edingale. In the historic county of Staffordshire (Modern Authority of Staffordshire, 1974 county of Staffordshire).

Mound South-East of Croxall Church has been interpreted both as a Saxon burial mound and as a motte. Bones were found in it in C18, but these may have been the result of an extension to the adjacent churchyard. It is now incorporated into a garden as an ornamental feature. The mound is 32m in diameter and 0.5m high. It was recorded as 29ft high in VCH so possible much eroded since then. Seems to be now considered as a Hlaew, but the location, by church and as continuing high status site, is consistent with a small motte and the damage prevents excluding this possibility
