Part of the Logaston Press Monuments in the Landscape Series this is a tourist guide but of reasonable quality. The bibliographical references are thin. Compared to the other books in the series by Paul Remfry (which are excellent) this is a poor book, the introductory history is thin and the site descriptions and histories notably poorer than Remfry's. Paul Davis's 'A Company of Forts' (qv) is a much better alternative.
