The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle
Anon
There are many editions and translations of this classic collection of Chronicles written in early english between about 750 to 1154. This Everyman Library edition cost me 69p from a charity shop. Essential for anyone interested in English Medieval History. This from the Laud Chronicle 1114.
In this year king Henry held his court at the Navivity at Windsor, and did not hold his court again this year. At midsummer he went with levies into Wales, and the Welsh came and made peace with the king; and he had castles built in that country.
