ALONG ALII DRIVE
Alii Drive in Kona is the road along the
waterfront which has
many shops and restaurants and hotels. On our first morning on the
Big Island, we walk from our place, past
many hotels, and into the
shopping area. I stop to rest on the way.

Though it is still fairly early in the
morning, most places are already open.

The steeple above belongs to the first
church on the island. We peek
inside and see rows of pews made out of koa
wood.

There is a small barrier between the street
and the ocean.

A large tree marks the end of the street.

Saffron finch flit around Kona.
This bird made no appearance in Kauai.
