Support
Federal Law Mandating Full Funding of Veterans' Healthcare
I support requiring the federal government to fully fund
our veterans' healthcare. Unfortunately you didn't have an
opportunity to vote for this because Chairman Christiansen
wouldn't allow a discussion of the issue, and the County
Board didn't feel it was important enough to put on the
spring ballot.
Last spring over one million voters had the opportunity to
vote on this referendum:
"Shall
the federal government be required to adopt full mandatory
funding of the Department of Veterans Affairs for the
purpose of ensuring that all eligible honorably discharged
U.S. veterans receive quality and accessible healthcare and
services?"
The referendum
passed by an overwhelming majority in the Illinois counties
fortunate enough to have leaders willing to give voters the
opportunity to express their opinions this important
veterans' issue. Read more about the ballot measure
here.
Sincerely,
Paul Gorski,
County Board Member, District Five
Democratic Candidate for
Winnebago County Board Chairman
